Melton, a Large Village Lying on the River Deben in Suffolk County, England
The village of Melton is in Suffolk county, England along the River Deben. The village centre is approximately 1 ¼ miles away from the town centre of Woodbridge. For many years, the village has the distinction of being the lowest ford of the River Deben. It still is true today. However, this has caused some traffic issues. This village is located within or near two Special Landscape Areas and the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ( AONB).
Settlement in the village started on the north east side around the old church. It later moved to Yarmouth Road, the old road between London and Great Yarmouth. Several large housing estates have been built in this village as a result of the momentous growth it has experienced over the last 22 years.
