Beeston, a Hamlet in the Town of Sandy in the English County of Bedfordshire
The Beeston hamlet is in the town of Sandy in the Bedfordshire County, England. It is approximately i/2 mile south of Sandy, east of Bedford and north of Biggleswade. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as having a mill.
The post road called “The Great North Road “connecting London to Edinburgh which passed through this hamlet was constructed during the medieval period. The post road was upgraded by the Ministry of Transport in the 1930s to a trunk road which became the A1 in 1923. After several more updates in the 1960s, a portion of the Great North Road became a dual carriageway. This completely divided the hamlet and cut off the larger section of the area from Sandy since pedestrian access was limited to a footbridge. There are plans to reposition the road so that it won’t pass Beeston/Sandy but no date has been set for this.

The town of Sandy where the hamlet belongs supports several hotels and other kinds of accommodation such as the Holiday Inn Garden Court A1 Sandy -Bedford, Highfield Farm, The Coach House and more. Things to See and Do in Beeston
The hamlet has a Methodist Chapel built in 1865 which seats 300 and is within the Anglican Parish of St Swithun in Sandy. The unique attraction of the hamlet is the 13-acre village green surrounded by several of the old houses. The RSPB The Lodge Nature Reserve in Sandy is worth exploring while visiting Beeston. It has 5 miles of trails, the banks and ditches from the Iron Ages on Galey Hill, beautiful gardens, and plenty of woodland birds.
