Gerrards Cross, a Civil Parish and Town in the South Bucks District of the English County of Buckinghamshire
Gerrards Cross is a relatively new civil parish and a town in the South Bucks district in Buckinghamshire, England. It was formed in 1859 as a new ecclesiastical parish by taking some parts of the existing parishes of Upton. Langley Marish, Iver, Fulmer, and Chalfont St Peter., The town/parish was formerly called Jarrett’s Cross, after which it was named after the Gerrards family, who owned a manor here in the early 17th Century. The town is in the south of the county separated by Denham from the London Borough of Hillingdon at Harefield. It is a large town and described as suburban.
The town lies north of Hedgerley and Fulmer and south of Chalfont St Peter. It spreads over the right bank of the River Misbourne and the foothills of the Chiltern Hills. Gerrards Cross Common is the town’s central public park while Bulstrode Park Camp was an Iron Age fortified encampment is a preserve area of land.

Things to See and Do in Gerrard Cross
The town’s parish church is a large and unique building built in 1861 dedicated to St James and is a memorial to George Alexander Reid, Colonel in Her Majesty’s army. Another notable building is the Gerard Cross Memorial Building on the south side of town built on the site of the former vicarage. It was designed by renowned British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and inaugurated in 1922 in commemoration of the losses suffered by the town during World War I. It is a war memorial that also serves as a community centre.
St Hubert’s House, a building of historical and architectural interest located in the south-east of Gerrards Cross, is a favourite filming location both for TV series and the movies. It has been used as the house of Colonel Hyde in the film The League of Gentlemen and the tv show The Professionals and Inspector Morse.
