Clacton-On-Sea, the Largest Town in the Peninsula and District of Tendring in Essex County, England
The large town of Clacton-on-Sea is in the Tendring district and peninsula in the Essex County of England. In 1871 it was established as an urban area, but at the same time, it is a seaside resort that peaked in the summer months from the 1950s to the 1970s. The town is located on the coastline of Holland-on-Sea and Jaywick and Great Clacton towards the north.
The economy of Clacton is still dependent on entertainment and tourism, especially the day-trip type. It is considered a retirement village because of its large population of retirees, and it has a strong service sector. Employment is also provided by the two industrial/business parks in the north-west part of the village while the Port of Harwich provides employment connected to the facility. Agriculture is still a means of livelihood in the wider district of the town.

It has a total of one hundred sixty mixes of restaurants, pubs, bars, lounges, coffee shops and tea houses at the latest count. The seaside town has a golf course, a pleasure arcade, caravan parks, piers and an airfield. During summertime, tourists still flock to the beaches, and tourist entertainment includes the Clacton Carnival which lasts for a week and starts on the second Saturday in August. The Clacton Air Show is a form of aerial display which takes place on the Thursday and Friday before the bank holiday in August.
