Harlow, a New Town and District in the West of the County of Essex in England
Harlow is a New Town as well as a local government district in the west of the county of Essex, England. The town sits on the boundary with Hertfordshire. It takes up a large tract of land on the south embankment of the upper River Stort which has a canal section close to its water mill. The river has been made traversable through other villages and towns.
Old Harlow is a suburb but as big as a village in size. It has been established during the early medieval era, and nearly all of the buildings on the high street are old Victorian residential houses usually protected by local conservation groups in the area. It is an outlying section of the London employment centre and commuter belt along the M11 corridor and adjacent to London Stansted and Cambridge. The New Town has its leisure and commercial economy but with the third-highest percentage (26.9%) of social housing in the UK. This phenomenon is a result of a 1947 pledge to provide housing for the London families who lost their home during the Second World War.

This new town is a shopping paradise for shopaholics. It hosts the Harvey Shopping Centre Harlow and the Waters Gardens, also an open air mall with high street clothing, food outlets, service business and a supermarket. This town is also home to a large number of hotels, B&Bs/inns and other specialty lodgings.

This town is such a great destination with plenty of things to see and do to keep everyone occupied. There are museums, gardens, parks, nature and wild reserve, sports complexes and camps, art galleries, churches and religious sites and architectural gems to visit. A boating trip on the canal is also a recommended activity.
