Burnham-On-Crouch, a Civil Parish and Town in the District of Maldon in Essex County, East of England
The town called Burnham-on-Crouch is also a civil parish located in the Maldon District of the County of Essex, East of England. The town sits on the north bank of the River Crouch. The civil parish stretches 5 miles east to the mouth of the River Crouch. The hamlets within the parish are Osten and Creeksea west of the town, East Wick, West Wick and Dammer Wick east of the town and Stoneyhill north of the town. Its claim to fame is yachting, being one of the major places for this water sports in Britain.
Being on the coast was beneficial to the town of Buckhurst Hill, first as a ferry port, then as a fishing port famous for its oyster beds, and most recently as a yachting hub. So, in spite of it being sparsely populated, it is the largest settlement in the broader Dengie peninsula area.

Things to See and Do in Burnham-on-Crouch
Every last Saturday of September for the last more than 106 years, the Burnham-on-Crouch holds the Illuminated Carnival on the Quay and the High Street with displays, sideshows and stalls. The climax of the festivities is a Grand Illuminated Procession at night starting from the Clock Tower and moving around town. Another anticipated event during the carnival is a fancy-dress competition for children.
