Dursley, A Civil Parish and A Market Town in Gloucestershire, England
The civil parish and market town of Dursley is in Gloucestershire County in England. It’s nearest neighbours are the villages of Cam and Stinchcombe Hill. It is around 3 miles south-east of the River Severn and sits in a wooded valley below the Cotswold escarpment. Cotswold Way, a 102-mile long-distance footpath that runs from the Cotswold escarpment passes thru the town centre.

At the heart of town is the market house, a lovely 18th Century building which also serves as the Town Hall. There are also several small shops, pubs and cafes in this town including the multi-awarded Old Spot Pub, named CAMRA National Pub of the year for 2007. Several markets are also held at the Market Place including the Farmers market every second Saturday of the month, and the craft market held every fourth Saturday of the month. A short distance away from the town centre is the Sainsbury supermarket opened in March 2010. Lidl and Iceland Foods are found here that it is sometimes called the “supermarket and charity shop” district of Gloucestershire.

Because of Dursley’s enviable location on the Cotswold Way, it has become a favourite haunt of walkers, bikers and hikers.The landscape that surrounds this vibrant market town offers plenty of picturesque walks including the walkway over Cam Long Down, Cam Peak, and Stinchcombe Hill with the expansive, all-encompassing view of the River Severn and further afield.The town even hosts its own Walking Festival every October.The town is also included in the 14-mile Lantern Way, a circular walk that takes in the villages of Uley and Cosley. The Dursley Sculpture and Play Trail in Twinberrow Woods with the sculpture made by the locals is a must see and do in this town.
