In the London borough of Camden in north-west London lies the area of West Hampstead. Situated between Swiss Cottage to the east, Kilburn to the west, Childs Hill to the North and South Hampstead to the south-east, this area is defined by the railway station of the same name. Mainly a residential area that has some local businesses and small commercial establishments, this area is served three stations. The Thameslink Station, Overground Station and West Hampstead on the Jubilee Line. Presenting a lot of links to its neighbouring destinations, it is a laid back destination ideal for a peaceful and relaxing break.
As a mainly residential area, retail therapy in this district is not that good compared to other London destinations. Offering a range of local businesses and several small shops enough to accommodate the basic needs of its locals and visitors, it is not your ideal shopping destination where you will enjoy. However, this district is connected to London and other destination that offers great shopping.
With a decent range of restaurants and local pubs serving good food and fine drinks, dining in this district is pretty good. Offering some delis, fast food chains and small food stalls, this district serves great quality food and fine refreshments.
Things to See and Do in West Hampstead
West Hampstead is home to Decca Studios on Broadhurst Gardens, as the studio where David Bowie recorded his first single and the Rolling Stones their first album, it’s one of the area’s notable buildings that tourists can check out. From this area, tourists will also have plenty of opportunities to visit the city of London, Childs Hill, Cricklewood, Swiss Cottage, Kilburn, St. John’s Wood, Fortune Green, South Hampstead and more!
