Brookmans Park, a Village in the Civil Parish of North Mymms in the English County of Hertfordshire
Brookmans Park is a historic village in the civil parish of North Mymms, in the county of Hertfordshire in south-east England. An interesting trivia about this town is the local legend that claims that the nursery rhyme “Little Miss Muffet” refers to a local, Patricia Moffat, daughter of Dr Thomas Moffat, an entomologist who lived on a farm in this village between 1553 and 1604. The village is also famous for its local history, the Brookmans Transmitting station, and the amenities offered by the community.
The Brookmans Park Transmitting Station is located on the northeast corner of the village along the A100 road between Hatfield and Potters Bar. It had a significant role in the history of Great Britain’s information via electronic media. When it was completed in October 1929, it had the first purpose-built twin transmitter station in the world that can broadcast two radio programs at the same time.
