Knebworth a Civil Parish and Village in the North of the English County of Hertfordshire
Knebworth is a civil parish and village in the north of the English County of Hertfordshire. The area covered by the civil parish includes the villages of Datchworth, Langley, St Paul’s Walden, Whitwell, Kimpton, and Woolmer Green.
As far back s the Neolithic times, there is evidence that there have already been settlements in the area and this is referred to in the 1086 Domesday Book as Chenepeworde. The original village, grew around Knebworth House. It was in the late 19th Century that the new village started, the centre of which is a mile to the east of Old Knebworth on the Great North Road and the new railway station.

Things to See and Do in Knebworth
Since 1974, The House, a country house in this village has been the home of outstanding open air pop and rock concert. This had brought the village celebrity status, especially when it hosted the Queen’s final concert on August 9, 1986. The concert drew a crowd of 300,000. It also hosted the Oasis Band which played for two nights in 1996 to a quarter to a million people, as well as the American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd; and Robbie Williams who performed to the largest audience ever gathered for a solo performer in August 2003.
The grounds of the house have been developed as a tourist attraction complete with an adventure playground and dinosaur park and as a venue for open concerts and various events. Other performers who have performed at The House are Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys, Elton John and more.
