Royston, a Civil Parish and Town on the Greenwich Meridian in the North Hertfordshire District of the English County of Hertfordshire
Royston is a civil parish and town on the northern slope of the Hertfordshire Chalk Downs in the North Hertfordshire District of the Hertfordshire County in England. The Greenwich Meridian cuts through the spot where the bypass intersects the original A505 alignment while the town centre is only less than 2 minutes west of the meridian.
Food, Shopping and Accommodation in Royston
The nearest shopping centre to this town is the Westgate Shopping Centre in Stevenage. And of course, there are the shopping centres in Cambridge and Luton. But there are gift and speciality shops as well as art galleries in town. With regards restaurants, it has a good selection of eating places in and around town, all forty-eight of them, many serving traditional British, French, Mediterranean dishes others have exotic offerings from all over the world. Things to See and Do in Royston
Places of interest in this town include the Therfield Heath, also called the Royston Heath, the nature reserve and SSSI which looks out on the town from a hill. There is also the Royston Cave, a unique cave hewn out of the chalk located in the centre of town at the central intersection of the town. There are carvings on this cave that provoked speculation as to the origin and use of the cave.
IN 2007, the Arts Festival was resurrected and had become an annual festival held either on the last week of September or first week of October. The town also boasts of the Town Band, a more than 150-year-old brass band organised in mid 19th Century as the Volunteer Band.
