East Cowes, a Civil Parish and Town on the Isle of Wight, England
East Cowes is a civil parish and town to the north of the Isle of Wight, England. It sits on the east bank of the River Medina opposite the town of Cowes. The two towns are linked by a chain ferry, called the Cowes Floating Bridge. Osborne House and Norris Castle are found in this town. These are the summer residence of Prince Albert and Queen Victoria respectively.
Food, Shopping and Accommodation in East Cowes
The town has a comprehensive mix of shops worth exploring as well as some small restaurants, pubs and cafes. The main drop off point for the Red Funnel car ferry services is found in this town. Recently, the town went through some extensive developments that brought a new Waitrose store and other business as well as a fresher look to the town.
East Cowes also have quite a selection of places to stay such as B&Bs and self-catering accommodations for visitors who plan to stay for vacations. A big favourite is the Waverley Holiday Park with its self-catering caravan as well as touring and camping accommodation.
Things to See and Do in East Cowes
Aside from enjoying the Beach with its fantastic views, there are sights and landmarks worth visiting in East Cowes. There is the Osborne House for a glimpse how the royals live. Osborne House was the summer home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Visitors are given a chance to view the private apartments of the royal couple as well the Children’s play-cottage, the private bathing beach and the garden terraces which has marvellous views across the Solent.
The Classic Boat Museum, the Heritage Center and Random Rooms, are also worth visiting while in town. Random Rooms also called escape rooms which offer a type of immersive adventure game.
