Baldock, a Historic Market Town in the English County of Hertfordshire
The market town of Baldock is under the local government district of North Hertfordshire in the geographic county of Hertfordshire, England. The town is located in the source of the River Ivel. It is 14 miles north-north-west of Hertford, 15 miles south-east of Bedford and 33 miles north of London. Its next door neighbours are Stevenage to the south, Hitchin & Letchworth to the south-west, and Royston to the northeast.

There are numerous eating places in Baldock spread all over town. Although quite a large number is concentrated along High Street, there are some along Whitehorse Street and Hitchin Street. There is also an eclectic choice of places to eat in this town; from stylish restaurants to fish and chips, including a McDonald and a Starbuck.
The Knight Templars have inevitably left a mark in this town if only in the name of one of the four hotels in this town, the Templars Hotels and Carvery. In addition to hotels, there are also B&Bs and inns housed in beautifully restored manors and cottages that are reasonably priced but with social amenities and facilities.

This market town may be small compared to the other towns and villages in the area, but it sure holds its own when regarding places to stay for the night while exploring the beauty of the vicinity at day time. Museum hopping is probably one of the favourite activities, in this town. Tours to view the Baldock Museum, The First Garden City Heritage Museum, Ashwell Village Museum, and of course, The Stotfold Watermill & Nature Reserve; and the British School Museum are all available.
A visit to Farrowby Farm is also worth a try. The wildlife walk is entertaining and informative, especially to children.
