Birmingham Airport is the seventh busiest UK airport with almost twelve million passenger throughput in the year 2016. Offering both domestic flights within the UK as well as international flights to destinations in Europe, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, North America and the Caribbean, it is a highly efficient facility that takes pride in providing excellent service and complete assistance to passengers. The airport is located 5.5 nautical miles east-southeast of the Birmingham city centre, in the metropolitan borough of Solihull. Bordered by the National Exhibition Centre to the east, Sheldon to the West, Marston Green to the north, Bickenhill village to the south and Elmdon village to the south-west; it primarily served by the A45 main road. It is also near Junction 6 of the M42 motorway and connected by the elevated AirRail Link with Birmingham International railway station on the west coast main line.

Birmingham Airport a two-storey passenger terminal building that has 112 check-in counters on the ground level. These check-in counters are separated into two distinct areas labelled as Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The ground level of the terminal also covers arrivals facilities and service counter as well as a good selection of shops and restaurants to cater to needs of the passengers.
The terminal’s larger first floor comprises the airport’s security areas and checkpoints. It also has a bigger airside area that features more shops, restaurants and bars to provide entertainment to the passengers. These amenities are linked to 48 departure gates in the two terminals where Terminal 1 features 11 stands with jetbridges of which some can handle wide-body aircraft while Terminal 2 features 9 stands equipped with jetbridges as well as three walk-boarding stands.
