The town of Bushey belongs to the Hertsmere borough of the County of Hertfordshire in England, and The Heath is a large neighbourhood located south-east of the town. The earliest written account about the town was in the Domesday Book describing a small rural village called Bissei which became Bisheye in the 12th Century. But there were tools of Stone Age dating that gave an indication that the town has been settled as far back as in Paleolithic era. A Roman road that runs through the town, as well as the Roman tessellated pavement found near Chiltern Avenue and Roman villas that are being excavated around town, are proof that the Romans were here.
