Chippenham’s major shopping district is in and around the MarketPlace, the High Street, the Causeway and The Bridge, Hathaway Retail Park and New Road. The covered Emery Gate Shopping Centre and the open air Borough Parade Shopping Centre are found on both sides of the High Street. On the outskirt of the town, there are also other shopping areas such as the Methuen Park and Hathaway Retail Park.
Things to See and Do in Chippenham
Chippenham has plenty of play areas, beautifully cared for parks, and open spaces such as the John Coles Park with ancient trees, a Victorian Bandstand and lovely flower beds. There is also the Monkton Park sitting on the banks of River Avon. The art treasures and the stately house of Longleat, Lacock Abbey, Bowood, Dyrham Park and Corsham Court are quite close to this town, and so is the Castle Combe Racing Circuit.
Within the town, there are several stone-built villages such as Biddestone, Lacock and Castle Combe that have been featured in TV dramas and movies such as Pride & Prejudice, Harry Potter, The Wolfman Stardust, Dr Dolittle and much more.
