Sandy, a Small Market Town and Civil Parish in the English county of Bedfordshire

Food, Shopping and Accommodation in Sandy
Independent shops line the High Street, but these do not qualify the town as a centre for shopping. For more serious shopping, people travel to Bedford or even Cambridge where shopping is considered a primary activity. But when it comes to places to eat and drink, this town can compare to its neighbouring towns. There are twenty restaurants & bars/pubs, and fast foods as well as several coffee shops in town. Most of the restaurant/pubs serve British fare, but there are also places serving Indian, Turkish, Mediterranean, Chinese, or other Asian cuisines. For those looking for a place to stay overnight or even for an extended vacation within Sandy, there is one hotel and four B&Bs/inns in this town.
Things to See and Do in Sandy
The town is well-known as the centre of operation of the Royal Society for the Protection of the Birds (RSPB). In 1961, the organisation moved to their headquarters called “The Lodge” located on the edge of town. Another thing that Sandy is famous for is the Shuttleworth Collection, an automotive and aeronautical museum approximately 2 miles south-west of Sandy. It is one of the most impressive museums of this kind in the world because of the diversity of its collection of old and well-preserved aeroplanes. The town is also home to a local nature reserve on the Ivel called “The Riddy.”
