Laindon, an Ancient Parish and a Village in the Billericay District in the English County of Essex
The village and ancient parish of Laindon is in the Billericay District in the English County of Essex. It must have been established on a manor of the same name, and at present, it is located mainly within Basildon’s urban area. It sits close to the source of the River Crouch, 3.5 miles east of Billericay, and 3.5 miles north-west of Pitsea railway station. The parish incorporates Basildon chapelry and is sometimes called by the locals as Langdon-Clay.
The village is north of the railway station of the Essex Thameside also known as the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. Langdon Hills is south of the railway line and station. Langdon Hills and Laindon are considered Basildon post towns. South-west of the town is the Dunton Plotlands, a field of small plots of land which were used as smallholdings or weekend cottages in mid 20th Century.
