Purfleet, a Town in the English County of Essex in the Thurrock Unitary Authority
The town of Purfleet is in the Thurrock Unitary Authority in the English County of Essex and within the parish of West Thurrock a traditional Church of England parish. It lies between the River Thames to the south and the A13 road to the north and is at the outskirt of Greater London. The area of this town to the south with some industry is part of the redevelopment area of Thames Gateway. The town is also a conservation area in the Unitary Authority of Thurrock.

Best shopping in Purfleet is at the Intu Lakeside Shopping Centre in West Thurrock, a huge indoor shopping centre with some of the best high street shops, a large selection of restaurants, a food court and cinemas. In this town, there are two restaurants, the bar & pub of the Royal Hotel and The Fleet on London Road. But in West Thurrock, there are more choices of places to eat and dine. There is only one B&B in this town, but again there are more choices in West Thurrock.
Things to See and Do in Purfleet
18th Century buildings that survived through time include the gatehouse clock tower and the proofing house which is now being used for community activities. In 2006, a project to revitalise High House, the collective name for a group of historic buildings in Purfleet was initiated by Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation. It aimed to renovate historic farm buildings that date back to the 16th Century and supported the development of buildings for creative industries. In December 2010, the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop, a scene-making structure for its ballet and opera productions was opened by the Royal Opera House.
