Gloucester, a city and district in the south-west England is the county city of Gloucestershire. It lies along the River Severn, near the Welsh border and sits between the Forest of Dean to the south-west and the Cotswolds to the east. Food, Shopping and Accommodation in Gloucester

Things to See and Do in Gloucester
Many medieval and Tudor period houses with gabled roofs and half-timbered frames remain as a reminder of the city’s history. All the ancient public buildings are gone now except for the New Inn at Northgate Street, a half-timbered building and a perfect example of a medieval courtyard inn. It is presently used as a public house, hotel and restaurant.
The Gloucester Cathedral is the pride of the city. It was constructed over the foundation of an abbey dedicated to Saint Peter in 681. Walter de Lacy and King Edward II are buried here. The cloisters of the cathedral have been used for corridor scenes in several Harry Potter movies such as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The crypt of the cathedral was also used for a scene in a Sherlock Holmes Christmas special. The Norman’s prior’s chapel is connected to the deanery of the church.
