Ware is a town and civil parish in the district of East Hertfordshire in the English County of Hertfordshire and is closest to the country town, Hertford.
As per archeological findings, there has been a settlement in this town as early as during the Mesolithic period. But it was the Romans that have left numerous relics of its Roman past such as the foundation of some buildings, two cemeteries and a temple.including the skeletal remains of a teenage girl. It is believed that the town is Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited site. It lies along Ermine Street, the Roman road connecting Lincoln to London.

For shopping, the best place to go if you are in this town is in Harlow, approximately 6 kilometres away from Ware. But when it comes to eating out, this town can give the other towns around it a run for their money. Things to See and Do in Ware
The town boasts of numerous buildings listed on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural and Historic Interest, one of which is a 14th Century friary which is presently used as council offices and as a conference centre called The Priory and Fletcher’s Lea. Another one is the parish church of St Mary, a large 14th Century structure which lies opposite of the priory. A few of the buildings along High Street were built way back in the 14th Century.
Other interesting things to do in Ware involves the River Lea. Hiking, cycling and having a picnic are just a few of what to enjoy around the River Lea. The Rye Meads Nature Reserves is another place to visit while in the area.
