Borehamwood, an Outlying Suburb of London but a Town in Southern Hertfordshire, England
Borehamwood is a town in southern Hertfordshire, England and at the same time an outer suburb of London which is 12 miles away from Charing Cross. The town’s name was initially spelt as Boreham Wood. It is within the London commuter belt and the civil parish of Elstree and Borehamwood. It’s primary claim to fame is its TV and film studios, usually called Elstree Studios, Elstree being its next door neighbour. The name of the town was first mentioned in 1188 as Bosci de Boreham or Wood of Boreham.

Shopping in this town is made doubly exciting because of the Borehamwood Shopping Park and a regular street market. The shopping park which has a pedestrian link to the high street has well-known names such as Debenhams, New Look, Argos, Outfit, Sports Direct and M&S Simply Food as tenants. On the other hand, the regular street market held in Shenley Road in an open space between Grosvenor Square and Clarenden Road every Tuesday and Saturday has a sizeable selection of stalls.
Within the town, there are only six hotels, but in the neighbouring towns of Elstree, Watford and St Albans more choices are available. With regards food and drink, the town boasts of over fifty places to eat; from a seafood restaurant, bakeries, sushi houses, an Indian pub, English Cafe, a Thai restaurant, delicatessen, traditional British pubs, fish bar and more.

Elstree Studios is the main attraction of this town, but visitors are not limited to it. In this town museums, flight schools, games and entertainment centre, parks and skate parks are also popular destinations.
