St Albans, a City in the English County of Hertfordshire
St Albans, which used to be a historic market town being the Roman city of Verulamium, is now a major urban area in the City and District of St Albans in the English County of Hertfordshire. The first important town along Watling Street, the old Roman road towards the north, is presently a dormitory town within the London Greater Built-up Area and the London Commuter Belt. It is 19 miles north-northwest of London, 11 miles south-southeast of Luton and 8 miles south-west of Welwyn Garden City.

The project “Renaissance in St Albans” is a joint venture between the city’s Museums and Galleries Trust and the University of Hertfordshire. The objective of the project is to transform the old town hall into an art gallery and museum, combining the Museum and the Margaret Harvey Gallery of the University.
