Stansted or Stanstead Abbot is a civil parish and village in the East Hertfordshire district in Hertfordshire County, England. It is located at the boundary of the county with Essex and is around 2 miles south-southeast of the town of Ware, 2 miles north-northeast of Hoddesdon, 4 miles south-east of Hertford and 5 miles west of Harlow. The River Lea separates the village from Stanstead St Margarets.
The village’s High Street used to have many old buildings, but most of these old buildings have succumbed to newer establishments and homes. Stanstead Abbot has become attractive to commuters to London is on the Hertford East Branch Line, a railway line which is part of the Lea Valley Lines, a collection of commuter routes into London. It has trains running from St Margarets station to London Liverpool Street.

One of Stanstead Abbott’s main attraction is the Lee Valley Marina with its 200 boat berths. It is close enough to the RSPB Rye Meads, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the Amwell Nature Reserve that are waiting to be explored. Walking, running or cycling coupled with a lot of sightseeing are some of the main activities in this area. But there is also white water rafting, ice skating, camping, horse riding, and golf plus a visit to some working farms.
