Yarmouth, a Port, a Town and a Civil Parish West of the Isle of Wight, England
Yarmouth is a civil parish, a town and a port located on the north-west side of the Isle of Wight off the southern coast of England. The town got its name from its location which is at the mouth of the Yar River. It serves as one of the gateways to the Isle of Wight because of the ferry services originating from its harbour. This historic port town is home to some of the oldest architecture in the island including a 16th Century Castle.

And at the foot of the pier, there is a cafe serving quite a selection of food and drinks, including the locally made gourmet Minghella Ice Cream. For more variety and choices, there is quite a selection of places to eat a short distance away in other villages of the Island.
Since the ferry terminal is conveniently located in this port town, it has become a favoured place to stay for people visiting the rest of the Island. It has an excellent hotel near the shore and some guesthouses and B&Bs close to the coast. Self-catering accommodation is also available in town and on West Wight, as well as holiday parks with caravan and camping facilities.
Things to See and do in Yarmouth
A walking tour around the harbour and the town itself is one of the most popular things to do in Yarmouth. It provides visitors with a glimpse of the town’s history as well as a great view across The Solent, which also happened to be a great spot for fishing. For family picnics, the Yarmouth Castle with its marvellous sea views is the perfect location. Exploring the two “Sites of Special Scientific Interest” near the town is also a favorite activity, as well as a visit to Fort Victoria with its other local attractions.
