Chinnor, a Civil Parish and a Large Commuter Village in South Oxfordshire, England.
Chinnor is a Civil Parish and large village in Oxfordshire that is primarily a commuter or dormitory village for the workforce of Aylesbury, High Wycombe, London and Thame. It was considered a spring line settlement, on the Icknield Way, a pre-Roman road, at the lower layer of the Chiltern escarpment. Spring line settlement is an area that was settled by the wanderer of long ago because of the line of springs in it.
In the 1960s, the village experienced rapid growth. At that time, the settlement in this village was mostly concentrated around the central rectangular street plan that included the Church Road, High Street, Lower Road and Station Road. It was also during this time when the community of Oakley was made part of the village when structures along the Mill Lane and Oakley Road increased more than twice the size of the village.

The Village Centre located in the heart of the village is the gathering place for the whole community. It is such a friendly place to drink and eat, as well as a centre for information and entertainment for the residents. It currently has three public houses; The Wheatsheaf, The Red Lion and The Crown. The village also has a town library and is host to the annual Beer Festival.
Things to See and Do in Chinnor
The headquarter and only station of Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway is found in this village. This station is a preserved heritage railway that runs along the foot of the Chilterns escarpment. And on the prominent Hill, there is the Chinnor Hill Nature Reserve, an area of downland and woodland above the Chiltern escarpment with an excellent view of Oxfordshire and its environs.
