Oxford is the county town of Oxfordshire and a city in the South East region of England. It is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in England and also the city with the fastest development. At present, it ranks as 52nd largest city in the UK.
The city’s chief claim to fame is the University of Oxford, considered the oldest institution of learning in the English-speaking world. For over 800 years, scholars and royalties regarded the University as their home. The old university buildings as well as other historical architectural gems in the area, which could be traced back to the Saxon era, have inspired the poet Matthew Arnold to dub it “the city of dreaming spires.”
