Brandon, Small Town and Civil Parish in the Forest Heath District of Suffolk County in England
The small town and civil parish of Brandon is part of the Forest Heath district of the English county of Suffolk. It is located on the Suffolk border with its neighbouring county of Norfolk in the Breckland area. It is a designated rural town being surrounded by agricultural land and the Forestry Commission. A small market is held every Thursday and Saturday in town
This town has several namesakes in different parts of England such as in Durham, Lincolnshire, and Warwickshire. The origin of the the town’s name is “hill where broom grows” according to the Concise Oxford Dictionary of English Place Names.

Along High Street, some small independent shops provide a unique shopping experience. Also, there is a small market every Thursday and Saturday. This town is considered a small town, but it supports more than twenty restaurants, pubs, cafes that offer a varied selection of cuisine from traditional British to Indian and Asian fares.The town is also home to one hotel and four B&Bs/inns.
Thing to See and Do in Brandon
The Centre Parcs holiday village in Elveden Forest is the main tourist attraction in town. In a 400 acre of dense woodland, there are numerous attractions and entertainment areas including water sports lakes, a zip wire over the waters for aerial adventures, a nine-hole golf course and more. For the more laid back, a walk along the woodland trails will be rewarded by sightings of the tiny muntjac deer that has made Elveden forest its home.
The High Lodge Thetford Forest is another favoured destination. It offers great forest adventure with its picturesque forest trails and play areas. And while in Brandon, a must-visit is the Brandon Heritage Centre, a history museum that draws a picture of the story of the town from the Stone Age to the current times.
