Debden, A Suburb of Loughton in the Epping Forest District of the English County of Essex
Debden is a residential area in the civil parish of Loughton in the Epping Forest district of the English county of Essex. The name of this suburb is taken from an ancient manor located at the northern end of the same name. Although residential, De La Rue printing works, East 15 Acting School and the Epping Forest College are located in this area. It is one of the few areas outside of Greater London which is being serviced by the London Underground.
Despite being mostly residentials, there is still an extensive collection of light industries in the suburb. Of particular mention is the De La Rue print works which have been commissioned to print Bank of England banknotes. Other businesses of import located in this residential area are the Biggins Group PLC which moved its headquarters to Debden in 2005. The British electronic company Amstrad which moved its headquarters from Brentwood to close to the centre of Loughton in 2013 is another business of note in the town.
Food, Shopping and Accommodation in Debden
Being a residential area in Loughton, this area’s residents go to Sainsbury or Westfield-London or even to Lakeside Shopping Centre in West Thurrock to shop. For a place to eat, the town has three restaurants, two of them serving Indian and Asian food. Residents need to go to Loughton or Bishops Stortford or even to Stansted Mountfitchet in search of a restaurant.
Things to See and Do in Debden
There is not much to see and do in Debden, but in Saffron Walden which is only several miles away from this suburb, there is plenty to see and do. There is the Saffron Walden Museum, the Audley End Miniature Railway, and the Audley End House and Park. Farther afield in Bishops Stortford, there are still several interesting places to visit while in the area.
