Newent is a civil parish and a small market town on the northern border of the Forest of Dean in the County of Gloucestershire, England. It used to be called “Noeni”, is almost 8 miles north-west of the city of Gloucester and is considered the largest town in the County. Its neighbours are Ross-on-Wye, Dymock and Ledbury.

Newent is one of the most beautiful towns in the Forest of Dean.The woods and meadows around the town are also well-known for the daffodils that grow there in wild profusion. Thus it is called the Golden Triangle. It is not only home to the National Bird of Prey Centre, but also to the Three Choirs Vineyard, a world famous vineyard and winery. The longest cul-de-sac in Europe, Foley Road, is also found here.
It is a thriving market town with a lot to offer to its visitors. A large number of the buildings here were built as far back as the 13th century although the main feature of the town, the half-timbered Old Market Hall, was built in 1668. There is also a small museum that houses a miniature of the 19th-century street called The Shambles, a street lined with Victorian houses, cottages, shops, workshops complete with alleyways and courtyards, It is a perfect showcase of Victorian Life in the country.
