ABOUT THE AREA

Teddington, a Parish and Village in the English County of Gloucestershire

Teddington Village in the English County of Gloucestershire dates back from the 8th Century. The ancient church of the village is believed to date back from the 12th Century, and the slightly faded mural of the Lion and the Unicorn on its wall is said to date back from the second half of the 17th Century. The village is located in a gently rolling countryside close to the foot of the Cotswold escarpment, nearly the same distance from the towns of Evesham, Tewkesbury and Cheltenham.

The town is well known for the Tibble Stone, a finger post at the crossroad opposite the Teddington Hands Inn. It is believed to be of mystical significance and is over 2000 years. According to folklore, a giant from Brendon Hill threw the stone. The parish’s existence started when the Tibble Stone was discovered since it was thought to bring luck and good fortune. Travellers arrived in the area to view the stone, and some of them settled here until the settlement was big enough and thriving businesses began to sprout.

Food, Shopping and Accommodation in Teddington

The most famous restaurant/pub in this village is the Teddington Hands. The Inn’s original name was Cross Hands Inn. The new name of the inn was adapted from the fingerpost which is now a listed structure. In addition to this great pub, there are also three coffee houses in this town.

There are no hotels or any other type of accommodation in this village, The nearest hotels to the town are in Tewkesbury and Evesham.

Things to See and Do in Teddington

There is not much to see and do in the village, but only several miles away in Winchcombe is the Sudeley Castle and Gardens that are worth exploring. Pittville Park in Cheltenham, the largest ornamental park in the town which features the spectacular lakes and pump room is also less than ten miles away. Between Tewkesbury and Cheltenham, the itinerary of the guests will be full.
