Loughton, a Civil Parish and Town in the District of Epping Forest in the English County of Essex
The town of Loughton in also a civil parish in the District of Epping Forest in Essex County, England. It also forms part of the Greater London Urban Area and the London Metropolitan Area for statistical purposes. The town is located almost 12 miles northeast of Charing Cross, and is bounded by Buckhurst Hill, Theydon Bois, Waltham Abbey and Chingford and contains three conservation areas. This town also has 56 listed structures and 50 more that are locally listed.

But when it comes to eating out, this town can compare with the adjacent towns with fifty popular eating establishments and counting. But for a place to stay, visitors will have to go to West Thurrock for more choices since there is no hotel and only one B&B and a campsite in town.

The Epping Forest is the principal attraction of Loughton which is the town’s boundary to the west. While there, visit the High Beach Church, a beautiful church in a woodland setting. It is enjoying the countryside at its best. For jazz lovers, this town has a small National Jazz Archive Museum adjoining the library on Traps Hill.
Loughton Camp is the oldest edifice in this town. It is an earth fort dating back to 500 BC in the Epping Forest. For centuries it was concealed by thick brushwood and was only found in 1872.
