Sudbury is a delightful ancient market town sitting near the River Stour in the English County of Suffolk on the border of Essex and Suffolk. It is surrounded by rolling hills and the water meadows immortalised in the works of Thomas Gainsborough, the famous English landscape painter. It is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Stour Valley and the commercial hub of the surrounding villages. The town is historically wealthy mainly because of its location - close to London & Colchester via domestic transport and close to the coast for the shipment of wool through the River Stour.
