Exploring the Large Village of Shiremoor in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside
Approximately three and a half miles inland of Whitley Bay and around three miles north of the Tyne Tunnel, lies the large village of Shiremoor. This village lies within Tyne and Wear’s metropolitan borough of North Tyneside, and a mile to its north are the extensive build-up areas of the borough which abruptly changed into a green belt that stretches to the north. This village was first built as a colliery village for the accommodating the miners of the local pits. It comprises numerous estates including the Bertram Grange and Old Shiremoor, which are the oldest.
Shiremoor has two major shopping outlets to cater to the shopping needs and demands of the locals and its visitors.
