The Town And Civil Parish Of Bracknell In Berkshire, England
Bracknell is a medium-sized town in the Borough of Bracknell Forest in South-East Berkshire County, England. The town is surrounded by large wooded areas of the Crowthorne Woods and Swinley Woods on the south and east. The town’s urban area has spread over the countryside areas around the parish including Binfield, Winkfield, and Warfield. Together with Binfield, Bracknell is now a part of the Greater London Urban Area.
At present Bracknell has achieved the image of the New Town it was planned for, with a progression of neighbourhood communities surrounded by open countryside. A mushrooming skyline indicates the town’s success in attracting scores of businesses, mostly high-tech, to the town. Bracknell has done well, and is perhaps the most successful of the new towns, thanks to the motorways and other transport links and its excellent location near London.
Food, Shopping And Accommodation In Bracknell
The Princess Square Shopping Centre at the Bracknell town centre has a sizeable collection of high street and fashion stores along with quite a good number of cafes and restaurants. As if this is not enough, the Lexicon Shopping Center opened in September 2017 as part of the town’s regeneration project.
This town is also home to several hotels, B&Bs and self-catered apartments as well as many places to eat and drink consisting of pubs, inns, restaurants, cafes, and bars.
Things To See And Do In Bracknell
Although it was only founded in in 1949, Bracknell’s history goes as far back as the prehistoric times. The oldest settlement in Bracknell was Caesar’s Camp, an Iron Age hill fort close to the Lookout Discovery Centre at the Bracknell Forest. The Bill Hill Bronze Age burial mound found close to Rectory Lane, and Downshire Way is the town’s oldest monument.
For adventure seekers, there is the Zipline and Adventure Parks in Bracknell known as the Go Ape Treetop Adventure.
