Haverhill, a Civil Parish and Market Town, the Second Largest Town in the St Edmundsbury Borough in Suffolk County, England
The market town and civil parish of Haverhill is the second largest town in the St Edmundsbury borough. It is in the English county of Suffolk adjacent to the Cambridgeshire and Essex borders and approximately 14 miles south-east of Cambridge and 47 miles north-east of central London.
Presently, this town is essentially a young, contemporary town. The town centre which is rather small for such a large community is set amidst large housing estates built at different periods from the 1950s to the present.

There is a partly pedestrianised town centre with a large selection of independent local shops and a collection of major high street retailers that make shopping in this town a pleasant experience. The town also has a fair share of eating places and pubs that serve the eating out requirements of both locals and visitors, from gourmet restaurants to traditional pubs, bistros to tea rooms and coffee houses. As to places to stay, the town has two hotels and several B&Bs or inns to house visitors.
Things to See and Do in Haverhill
The Anne of Cleves House, a Tudor-era building which was reportedly a divorce settlement of Henry VIII to Anne of Cleves, is one of the buildings in this town that had survived the 14 June 1667 great fire. Several impressive Victorian buildings also survived the fire and are now considered attractions in this town.
Other places to see and things to do in Haverhill include the Haverhill Arts Center, East Town Park, and Linton Zoo among others. The Arts Center is housed in a building that dates back to 1883. It showcases music and dance, comedy plus there is a cinema in the complex. East Town Park is 50-acres of tree belts and meadows, while Linton Zoo which is 7 miles away from the town is home to a “wealth of rare and exotic creatures.”
