Warwick, the County Town of the English County of Warwickshire Along the River Avon
Warwick, the county town of the English County of Warwickshire, lies along the River Avon. It is west of Leamington Spa and Whitnash with which it adjoins and 11 miles south of Coventry.
The buildings in the present-day town were built after 1694 since a large section of the medieval town was destroyed by the great fire in that year. Industrialisation came to the county town in the 19th Century, but since 1801 it was already growing steadily. One of the reasons why the town did not become a centre of industry was because it is not situated on any important road and navigating the river Avon was not possible in Warwick.

Things to See and Do in Warwick
The medieval Castle with the trebuchet is one of, if not, the most visited historic site in Warwick. Several shows, jousting and displays are featured in the castle such as the “Flight of the Eagles,” which is a bird show. There are also “The Sword in the Stone Show” and the “Trebuchet Show,”and a live actor experience show, “The Castle Dungeon.”
A tour of the Guy’s Cliffe House, Guy’s Cliffe House , St John’s House Museum, Charlecote Mill, are other interesting “to do” in this town. For shopping and refreshment, people go to Smith Street where handmade bags, bread & coffee, loose tea and other unique items can be had. Smith Street is also a historic walking area.
